Our 2012 Summer holiday was in Lanzarote, Spain, one of the Canary Islands, at the West of the Sahara desert. We stayed in Playa Blanca at the South of the island, in a holiday resort that had apartments in semi-detached houses, and several swimming pools. We rented a car the whole stay and it was convenient. Lanzarote is a beautiful island, very arid but with interesting vegetation, even some agriculture (vineyards). The landscapes were stunning, from the volcanoes to the beaches. 108 photos

1 June 2012, La Palestre, Le Cannet. The leisure and sports centre of Le Cannet gave their annual show. I attended with my friend Christine, whose son Alexis (my godson) took part in the show. The first line (photos 1 to 5) are from the classical dance show, La Sylphique, led by Delphine Dupuis. The rest of the photos are from the hip-hop dance show, led by Adil Moujahid. Alexis, my godson, is in the youngsters group. (He's a short-hair blond, and he's wearing black and red sneakers). They rocked the place, dancing on Fire (Yes, Yes Y'all) by Busta Rhymes / Joe Budden! We were really amazed by the dance show. Alexis was excellent and really looked like he enjoyed himself. I am looking forward to next year's hip-hop show. (30 photos)

Many of the W3C staff travelled to Boston to hold the W3C Team Day. The Program Committee had prepared a very good mix of indoor and outdoor activities. We started in a big room in the Stata Center. Then we ate lunch in historic Concord, MA and drove to the Decordova Museum for more outdoor activities, a lovely stroll in the parc in groups, and music at the pipe organ. We stayed together for dinner, back at MIT and were joined at dessert by our new CEO, Jeff, to greet and meet us.

A walk with a few W3C former and current colleagues. We chose the Estérel, thinking we would see mimosa trees in bloom. We parked our cars between Le Trayas and Agay and we walked to the Pic du Cap Roux (Elev. 454 m.). Vlad, Adrien and I were in the excellent company of Bert, Cédric and Agathe, Daniel et Ralph. We saw just one bunch of mimosa trees, one of them partially in bloom. However, the walk was lovely and the view exquisite.

Our first stop was Saint-Aygulf where ruins of Roman walls are to be found in shallow waters, where they used to breed fish and eels, back in ancient times. Our second stop was the pond of Villepey, a natural reserve for fauna and some flora, where we got to watch a lot of gulls, swans, some ducks and a couple of coypus.

Pictures I took while working from Hugo and Nicole's as Eric was visiting. (OK, the story is that I have slacked on updating koalie.net so today I decided to try out Yves's new genepage and filter. Seeing my last update was my .nz pictures of March, I naturally went for my April pictures. While adding the metadata, I had the impression that several comments I was making sounded familiar... Oh well. This 2.0 has 50% less images, better descriptions, cropped images and above all the gallery now has a nice filter for the -med.jpg.)

He is learning to walk and will soon no longer need helping hands. He has a tooth also. He can say "papa", "baba" and "mam" which he sometimes combine into lovely "mamama"

I changed the thumbnails into square ones (Thanks Yves for tweaking your script for me), because Flickr does that and it's much nicer than rectangles. I removed the Flickr Badge (sometimes flickr is down). I removed text. I removed the little duckies pleasantly floating on water that were in the image at the top of the page. As usual, I welcome comments and suggestions (and as usual, I'll take ages to consider them and even more to implement).
