USA, 14 Feb. - 03 May 2007

Amy and I co-habited so pleasantly and successfully during the Fall 2006 that I was eager to come back for another 3 month, the maximum allowed on a tourist visa. Although I had met Vlad when I was back in France for Christmas and New Year's eve, my plans to return to the USA were already a done deal. So, mid-February, I was in California for a meeting of the W3C Advisory Board, in Cupertino. Then Vlad visited early March. We experienced the cold cold winter while doing tourism in Boston. We had a wonderful 2-week vacation, after which I was a little tired. It turned out a baby was on the way! Then winter yielded to spring which I enjoyed briefly. It was time to pack all my things to travel to Banff(!) in Canada for the W3C Advisory Committee meeting, and then go back home to Vlad, in France. There is also a flickr set (127 photos).

No Trespassing
"Restricted Area No Trespassing" sign on a fence with chains. I like being in the US and A, but I find myself wondering most of the time what law or rule I am possibly breaking. I was in this mood when taking this photo. Only moments ago, we had been on the other side of the Zakim bridge, with a goal to take photos, when a guy walked to us and said there was this rule from the building that people were not allowed there (it was a parking lot) to take photos. He spoke to me and added that he knew the perfect spot for us. We just had to cross and we'd find the bridge under the same sun, or something. Vlad asked for confirmation that we couldn't take a few photos. The man very briefly looked at Vlad, turned to me and said "You tell him what I just said." It seemed so dumb to not allow people in a parking lot. And this guy was very rude. I was very frustrated because I didn't argue; we just left.
