Tallinn, Estonia, 06-09 August 2006

A few days in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn.

See also the  flickr set (13 photos).

Sitting in a cafe', enjoying a coffee. A painting on the wall with colourful flowers, and a real flower facing me, almost claiming it's the only real thing to focus on.

OK, maybe I have a thing with flags. Or it's the converging vertical lines.

Flags

In the 1930s, Kadriorg Palace became a residence for the head of state. On the same level as the palace, across the back flower garden, lies the president\325s office building, built a few years before World War II, which today serves as the residence of the President of the Republic of Estonia.

This is in Kadriorg Park, where people seem to go by pairs ;)

In pairs!

Ducks perched on a plank, just above the water of the swan lake.

Hey, not so fast!

Ducks racing (not really) on the Kadriorg Park swan lake.

Swan lake

Kadriorg Park swan lake (where people go in pairs, and duckies go by three). One of the duckies decided to stop being lazy. I was lucky enough to take the photo just as it lept in the water.

Off I go

The wooden pole might not be the best place to be after all. The last ducky decides to follow the other two and blow this place

Yeah, let's blow this place

Four ducks in the Kadriorg Park swan lake (that's right, you get the idea, they have ducks in their swan lake, that's it).

Maps are great. I often get lots so they're useful on site. They're also useful to help name things.

Lest we get lost

Two large birds (might be ravens) against a very deep blue sky

All by herself... on the sand, in the sun, with her paper

All by herself...

A few people were on the beach, mostly sitting up and staring at the sea. The wind was strong and it was a little chilly (by my own standards, that is).

Tallinn beach

This man was absorbed in his music, his back to the sea, away from the people and near the dirt path. He was playing a mandolin, a happy smile on his face.

The mandolin guy

A little girl playing on her own on the beach, dragging a stick in the sand.

Writing in the sand

I like the instant of this photo; a bird flying by, a sail boat on the horizon, leaves and branches from a tree at the top and weeds at the bottom, framing the little girl who played by herself on the beach, drawing shapes in the sand with a long stick.
